My Focus Areas
Stress
Stress happens from an overwhelming event. Stress comes from work, difficulties at home, and even past experiences. Stress can cause several physical and mental challenges like anxiety, depression, high blood pressure migraines and other chronic pain.
Post-Traumatic Stress
Trauma is an event that caused such an overwhelming amount of stress it caused a long-term impact. People who experience trauma often develop post-traumatic stress- a type of stress where feelings from the past event flood daily life
Chronic Stress
Chronic Stress is a type of stress that lasts for a long period of time, even years. This is the kind of stress people often experience in abusive homes and living in dangerous environments. Chronic stress causes more long-term physical symptoms and difficulty managing emotions. Experience of chronic stress can lead to development of Complex- Post Traumatic Stress. Complex Trauma shows many of the same signs of PTSD but is much longer lasting and causes difficulties with maintaining personal relationships.
Grief and Loss
When people experience loss— death of a loved one, job loss, abandonment, and many others- experience the grieving process. The grieving process is a cycle of sadness, anger and many other complicated emotions. Another part of grief is heightened stress. Significant losses bring stressful changes and responsibilities to people’s lives.
